RapidPipeline QC Tools is a quality assurance system to automate the comparison of sets of renders.

Getting started with QC Tools

RapidPipeline QC Tools can be accessed from our Cloud Platform in single-asset mode, or it can be run on-premise on large batches of assets via the QC Tools CLI (command line interface).

RapidPipeline QC Tools on the Cloud Platform

When a 3ds Max file is uploaded and converted with RapidPipeline DCC Importer, a QC Tools Report is automatically generated.

To open a report go to the Assets page, click on a model, then click on QC Tool Report.

This will open a new browser window, and show the QC Tools Report for your model.

Three blocks of renders can be examined: the original scene, the conversion result, and the pixel differences between them.

Click on any of the renders to see an enlarged A/B comparison between input and output, and drag the slider to compare differences.

The "Errors and Warnings" dropdown will display any issues encountered with the input asset. Any errors shown may affect conversion quality, so it is advisable to fix the source asset if possible and re-convert.

RapidPipeline QC Tools via CLI

info

The RapidPipeline DCC Importer CLI requires an Enterprise or Custom Plan: https://rapidpipeline.com/en/pricing/.

RapidPipeline QC Tools can be used for batch processing on local hardware or a virtual machine or via AWS.

When run via the CLI, reports include additional tools for sorting and filtering of large batches.

Our enterprise clients have successfully run this on huge batches of hundreds of thousands of assets, to greatly reduce manual QA work, and to help them focus on the small percentage of assets which were automatically not approved, usually because of missing textures or malformed input files.

For installation and usage instructions please see QC Tools CLI.
