September 10, 2026

✨ New Features

  • Updates to Path Traced Rendering: Preview, Default and Final quality presets, and a pause/resume rendering feature.
  • Viewport Transforms Gizmos: Move, rotate and scale selections using local or global axes, with undo support.
  • Mesh-related Context Menu: Updated viewport and node tree right-click menus for splitting, merging and unwrapping meshes.
  • New Project: Start an empty project without importing a model.
  • Node Tree Drag-and-drop materials: Assign materials to scene tree nodes or groups, with live previews and undo support.
  • Node Tree Material counts: Scene tree groups now show how many materials they use.
  • Visibility shortcuts: Ctrl+H hides the selection; Ctrl+Shift+H shows it again.

🔨 Improvements

  • Material Editor: Faster loading and switching, with more accurate undo/redo. Each material remembers its own values and textures.
  • Scene tree: Faster updates and more reliable thumbnails and visibility.
  • Processing: Preserves camera position and node visibility, and skips hidden geometry.
  • Face Orientation Mode: Transparent materials remain see-through, making geometry behind glass easier to inspect.
  • Grid and axes: Consistent colours across gizmos and the viewport grid, with clearer positive and negative axis directions matching the camera movement gizmo.
  • Error messages: Clearer explanations when application files are missing.
  • Layout: Adjustments to dock sizing and material thumbnail arrangement.
  • Interface: Sharper text, improved button styling and less log clutter.

⚡ Fixes

  • Fixed crashes and viewport flickering when changing scenes during path-traced rendering.
  • Fixed normal map strength and missing maps when switching materials.
  • Fixed texture tiling, scale and offset differences between renderers, without changing exported files.
  • Fixed dropdown styling and positioning.
  • Corrected axis labels and gizmo orientation.
  • Fixed sample counter values and visibility. Real-time rendering now shows N/A.

✨ Behavior Changes

  • Offline renderer: Typhoon replaces Moonray as our offline render engine. Renders may look different.
  • Back-face culling: Single-sided faces are now hidden when viewed from behind, except in Face Orientation mode. Use double-sided meshes to show both sides.
